About the Artist
KAT IVA. is an artist from Bonn, Germany, specialized in oil painting and mixed media. She was born in 1989 in Zelenograd, Kazakhstan, and grew up in Germany. Like many artists, she found her love for painting and drawing in early childhood. In adolescence and young adulthood, she dedicated herself to several creative pursuits, ranging in media from photography to graphic design, though none captivated her as much as painting. After a conventional degree in business administration, she decided to teach herself how to paint professionally by taking online courses. She has learned both figurative painting with oil paints and abstract painting with various materials. She soon discovered that abstract painting was the only way she could let herself go in the creative process.
Her paintings are deeply rooted in the essence of nature.
Kat draws inspiration from the natural world, including her many travels to mountains, forests, deserts, and remote landscapes, incorporating elements such as minerals, coffee grounds, and dried lotus leaves into her artwork. These materials symbolize the resilience of nature, similar to how lotus leaves shed water, representing the shedding of negative experiences. Her art is a conduit for transforming negative emotions into positive energy, guiding viewers toward the essential, the beautiful, and the uplifting.
Artist's Statement
"Through my artworks, I aspire to transform negative feelings into positive energy, with a profound connection to nature playing a central role. In our hectic modern lives, particularly in Western industrialized societies, many have lost touch with the natural world. Yet, it is nature that balances us and reveals our true inner selves. When venturing outside is not possible due to work, household responsibilities, or inclement weather, my paintings bring the essence of nature indoors. My goal is to direct the viewer's gaze to what is essential, beautiful, and positive, fostering a grounding of the spirit."
