About the Artist

KAT IVA. is an artist from Bonn, Germany, specializing in oil painting and mixed media.
Born in 1989 in Zelenograd, Kazakhstan, she grew up in Germany. Like many artists, she discovered her love for drawing and painting in early childhood. During her teenage years and early adulthood, she explored various creative fields—from photography to graphic design—but none resonated with her as strongly as painting. After completing a degree in business administration, she began teaching herself to paint professionally through online courses. She trained in both figurative oil painting and abstract techniques using a variety of materials, and soon realized that abstract painting was the form that allowed her the most freedom in her creative process.

Her work is deeply inspired by the essence of nature.
Kat draws from her travels to mountains, forests, deserts, and remote landscapes, often incorporating natural materials such as minerals, coffee grounds, and dried lotus leaves into her pieces. These elements symbolize nature’s resilience—much like lotus leaves that repel water, reflecting the shedding of negative experiences. Through her art, she aims to transform difficult emotions into positive energy, guiding viewers toward what is essential, beautiful, and uplifting.

Artist's Statement

"Through my artwork, I aim to transform negative feelings into positive energy. A deep connection to nature is at the heart of this process. In our fast-paced modern lives—especially in Western industrialized societies—many people have lost touch with the natural world. Yet nature helps us find balance and reconnect with our true selves. When going outside isn’t possible because of work, daily responsibilities, or bad weather, my paintings bring the essence of nature indoors. My goal is to guide the viewer’s attention toward what is essential, beautiful, and uplifting, and to offer a sense of grounding."
